Turtle System BASE ELEMENT is a ready-to-use two-part solution designed for the daily maintenance of KH, calcium, and magnesium levels in reef aquariums at optimal values.

The product, which consists of two separate containers, advantageously replaces a traditional Balling system while saving one dosing pump head. It allows users of the NWC protocol to perform all their dosing with a standard 4-channel dosing pump. Unlike other two-part competing solutions, BASE ELEMENT contains no trace elements whatsoever!

Unlike conventional solutions intended only to raise KH, calcium, and magnesium levels, this product contains all the elements required—in the correct proportions—to maintain the ionic balance of the other major elements in your aquarium’s water. As with a classic Balling method, using this product will cause a slight increase in salinity. In most aquariums, this increase is naturally compensated by the saltwater extracted by the protein skimmer.
However, in aquariums with higher consumption rates, it may be necessary to regularly remove a small amount of saltwater and replace it with RO water to maintain normal salinity levels.During this process, other important elements—such as sulfur and potassium—are slowly removed from the system. Over time, this depletion can become problematic. BASE ELEMENT continuously compensates for this invisible loss by providing small, balanced additions of these elements.

• Solution A maintains calcium and magnesium.

• Solution B maintains KH and the ionic balance of other major elements.

Both solutions are formulated to be dosed equally in a standard reef aquarium. However, since every aquarium is unique, individual adjustments to dosing are often required.

Important: Solution B, which contains KH, is highly concentrated. It must be kept at a reasonable temperature to avoid crystallization. This can occur if stored in an unheated area or shipped during cold weather.
Crystallization does not damage the product—it will return to normal once it warms up.
If you’re in a hurry, you can speed up the process by placing the container in a warm-water bath.
If the solutions will be used in an unheated environment, dilute Solution B by half (for example, 5 L of Solution B + 5 L of RO water) to prevent crystallization.
