Technical Sump – Series R

Description

This filtration system includes:

• A first “algae refuge” compartment equipped with a custom LED light made by us. It features a balanced combination of OSRAM cool white, royal blue, and red horticultural LEDs, ideal for growing all types of macroalgae (chaetomorpha, caulerpa, etc.). The separation wall is equipped with a removable comb for easy cleaning, along with a special anti-noise system to reduce waterfall noise as water flows to the next compartment.
• A second “constant level” compartment, with adjustable water height via a movable partition, perfect for protein skimmer installation and other devices like fluidized bed filters or calcium reactors.
• A third “return” compartment to house a return pump, sending the filtered water back to the display tank.

Like all Turtle System sumps, this model includes numerous convenient accessories:

• Water inlet and outlet via pressure PVC union fittings (diameter of your choice)
• Rigid removable tubing system for dosing pump connections (customizable number)
• Holder for one or two heating elements (optional)
• Probe holders on the movable wall to ensure optimal height and central flow measurement (customizable number)
• Cable cutouts on the rear brace
• Transparent lids across the entire sump, with optional custom cutouts for equipment access

Fully customizable, this tailor-made sump adapts to your setup. Base dimensions range: width from 50 to 150 cm, depth from 40 to 90 cm (vertical reinforcements added for large sizes). Height is fixed at 38 cm. The widths of both the refuge and the return compartments are also customizable, with a minimum of 12 cm each.

This sump is built entirely from high-quality 8mm thick cast PMMA and welded for superior durability compared to glued glass. It’s also lighter, easier to handle, and highly shock-resistant.

The front face is made from transparent PMMA for maximum visibility. Other walls are in opaque black or white PMMA to block light from adjacent refuges or frag tanks.

Removable transparent lids limit evaporation and maintain visibility. Cable cutouts ensure tidy wiring and lid closure without obstruction.

An optional tubular support for adjustable water level sensors is available. Custom brackets for your sensors should be ordered separately in the “Accessories” section.
